艺术家简介


  翠西·艾敏1963年7月3日生于一个英国的艺术家家庭。虽然出生在伦敦,但她是在一个叫Margate的小镇长大的。翠西很小的时候,她父亲抛弃了她们一家娶了另外一个女人,这直接导致了翠西之后的不幸遭遇,除了生活的贫困之外,她14岁的时候不幸的被强奸了。成年后的翠西继续延续着混乱和历经痛苦的生活,酗酒,抑郁症,滥交,数次流产,等等,这些痛苦的经历成了她艺术创作的直接来源。

  翠西·艾敏的作品使用的媒介很广泛,包括针线手绣,雕塑,素描,绘画,摄影,霓虹灯,视频和装置等。作为90年代初英国著名的YBA(英国青年艺术家)群体代表性的成员之一,翠西的才华和她引发的争议在英国是无与伦比的。英国媒体曾经说过,“翠西·艾敏的作品必须参照着她的个人一起看。”可见,人们对她这个人的好奇程度甚至胜过了她的作品。

  翠西的作品是一种日记体式的表达,如果把她所有作品放在一起,看起来就像她的一部自传。翠西对讲故事非常迷恋,她的作品里常常都出现她手写的只言片语,这些文字以一种任性的方式出现,带着翠西标志的特殊拼写错误和词序,像是一个自相矛盾,但又是对这样的存在确信不疑的声明。

  Everyone I Have Ever Slept With( 1963–1995)是翠西在1997年完成的作品,这件作品的主体是一个蓝色帐篷,在帐篷里翠西写下从1963年到1995年期间和她睡过的所有男人的名字,这些人包括她的性伴侣,她的双胞胎哥哥,和她的两个流产的孩子。这件作品在Charles Saatchi举办的那个著名展览Sensation上展出并产生了强烈的反响。尽管它的题目容易令人遐想,但这并不是像人们想象那样是一件传达出性意味的作品,这是翠西的个人世界,是她和那些与之生活过的人们的关联性感受,这是一件让人看了之后心生暖意的作品。

  根据她自己的真实生活,翠西常常在揭示痛苦的时候表现出一种毫无保留的坦诚。她把自己经历过的痛苦以一种简单,坦率,甚至是残酷的方式传达了出来,叛逆不羁却又充满自我怀疑。就像1999年在英国的Tate美术馆展出的那件来自翠西的著名装置作品“床”,在这件作品里,她把别人视为肮脏或者是羞于见人的东西全部都展示了出来,一张乱糟糟的还没来得及整理的床,用过的避孕套,有血污的内裤,卫生巾,伏特加酒瓶,药盒,空烟盒,破拖鞋,床下是一条脏兮兮的蓝地毯。这些物品揭示了这张“床”的主人混乱不堪的夜生活。这张“床”一经出现就引发了英国民众的观念大战,除了媒体的大加报道之外,一位居住在英国威尔士的家庭主妇知道“居然有这样一件作品存在”之后,立即从家里出发,千里迢迢的来到伦敦,到了Tate博物馆之后,她二话不说,从行囊里拿出洗洁精和抹布就要对这张床进行打扫,好在美术馆的保安行动即时,这件作品才免遭清扫,但她带来的洗洁精还是滴了一滴到那张床上。在被保安带走的途中,她高声说,“打扫卫生是我的责任,翠西是坏女孩的榜样”。事后证明,她的这一行为和那一滴洗洁精绝妙的成为了这件作品的一部分,这张“床”在当年获得了英国特纳奖的提名,这件作品也成了翠西最具代表性的作品。

  对于人们对自己的作品产生的强烈反应,翠西说:“我奇怪那些人的道德感和完整性来自那里,我的作品没有任何值得让人震惊的。我并没有要让人震惊的意思,我只是想和人们达到对话的目的。”

  确实是这样,翠西的作品并不是为了制造“噱头”,也不是赤裸呈现那么简单。事实上,她总是能巧妙而直接地将作品的主题与形式充分地融为一体。虽然她的创作常常被认为是大胆和挑衅的,但她的作品更应该被注意到的是她作为一个女性所体现出来的细腻,敏感和易受伤害的特质。她通过自己普通或者不普通的生活经历,通过打破禁忌展示出来的不妥协的诚实,使观众突然进入了一个直面生活真相的情境。通过这种表达方式,她个人的经验和感受不再局限在个人表达的范畴,而成了真正意义上被表达的人类情感,这使她的艺术创作有了更广泛的语意,进入了一个更有意味的层面。

  最近几年,翠西开始尝试在她的作品里注入更多的母性情怀,就像她最近在接受采访时对自己状况的描述,她说,活到45岁这个年纪,觉得“比以前轻松多了”。也许在这样一个放松的状态下,翠西有了更柔和的心情去感受自己的母亲和想象自己成为母亲的情景。比如她最近创作的作品“感受怀孕”系列和“与我妈妈的对话”,都着力表现了对母亲这一女性角色的探询,表达了拥有孩子,成为母亲的渴望。从她的这些作品里我们可以看到她极度渴望爱,同时又能施与爱的女性灵魂。

  经过这么多年的创作,翠西的艺术才华和她作品的意义已经受到了充分的肯定,即便是以往或现在人们对她作品和个人的争议都没能影响这一点。2007年,翠西代表英国参加了威尼斯双年展。2008年的8月2日至11月9日,苏格兰国家现代艺术馆举办了“翠西-艾敏20年回顾展”,这是她艺术生涯中的首次大型个人回顾展,借着这个展览,人们得以全面的了解这位英国当代最具知名度和争议性的女性艺术家的日记性创作和她的过往。

  翠西曾经说过,作为一个艺术家不仅是制作出看起来美好的东西,或者获得人们的夸奖,它是某种形式的交流,是她向外传达出的一种信息。在她的回忆录中,她这样描述自己,“这就是我,无耻,疯狂,厌食症患者,酒鬼,美丽的女人。”而作为她作品的阅读者,我们体会到的翠西不仅是一个美丽的女人,还是一个拥有浪漫而深刻世界观的艺术家。
