Zhang Xiaogang(1958- )
Born in Kunming. Graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982, Zhang is now a teacher at the Academy. Exhibitions: in 2000, the ¡®Door of this century-the Chinese Art exhibition¡¯ in China and ¡®the 3rd Gwangju Biennale in Korea¡¯, in 1999; ¡®Comrade¡¯ exhibition in France Gallery in Paris and ¡®Face-International Art exhibition¡¯ in Belgium; in 1998, ¡®New Chinese Art¡¯ in Finland; in 1997, ¡®Arch Art Exhibition¡¯ in Spain; ¡®100 years of Chinese oil painting-Figure Painting¡¯ exhibition in the National Art Museum; ¡®New Chinese Art¡¯ exhibition in Portugal; in 1996, ¡®Retros-pect-Chinese Modern Art¡¯ exhibition in Edinburgh. Publications include the catalogue of the 22nd International Biennial of Sao Paulo published by Hanart TZ Gallery in Hong Kong, The Other Face published in 1995, and the catalogue of¡°Reckoning with the Past-Contemporary Chinese Paintings¡± published by the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh in 1996.
