即将于2007年9月5号开幕的上海艺术博览会国际当代艺术展是一个高水准的国际当代艺术的盛事，由上海市国际文化传播协会、上海艺术博览会组委会、以及著名的意大利博罗尼亚展览集团共同主办。
另外，博罗尼亚展览集团还特别邀请前巴塞尔博览会艺术总监Lorenzo A. Rudolf先生和欧洲重要的画廊管理人、艺术经纪人和收藏家Pierre Huber先生共同参与策划和组织上海艺术博览会国际当代艺术展。
展览将在著名的上海展览中心举办。除了固定的项目外，此次展览还将设立“杰出艺术家”单元和“杰出的发现”单元，分别推出15位具代表性的当代艺术大家和20位新兴的杰出年轻艺术家。
作为国内顶尖艺术机构当代唐人艺术中心，这次将重拳出击，推出三位参加了今年卡塞尔文献展的具有国际影响的中国艺术家林一林，颜磊和郑国谷代表唐人艺术中心参加画廊单元的项目，他们将分别拥有一个属于自己的独立展位空间，来展出他们最近创作的新作品。其中颜磊将展出一幅长达三米的布上油画，加上另外九幅作品，共同组成了他的《着陆-上海》系列，其中山水风景与人工景观和诡异的人类肢体语言交织互补，形成了丰富的视觉场域；郑国谷的计划则是与具体的空间发生关系的，通过在展览现场布置起一座小型的工厂车间，以两组雕塑和两个真人的现场表演来再现珠三角蓬勃发展的加工经济背后所存在的真实社会场景，突现“世界工厂”的另一个现实；另一位卡塞尔参展艺术家林一林一直以来从事实验艺术的创作，这次展览将展出他的一组最新的实验影像作品，由7组视频录相组成，是艺术家与奥斯陆艺术学院合作的结晶。艺术家希望藉此来探讨新的影像语言可能性。另外，在“杰出艺术家”单元里，当代唐人艺术中心还推出泰国当代最重要的艺术家里克力·提拉瓦尼迦（Rirkrit Tirawanija）参与此次的策划单元展览，他的作品曾被蓬皮杜艺术中心和MOMA收藏。在这个展览中，他的观念性极强的作品以一种隐晦的然而又是极为当代的手法来表现艺术家一贯的对亚洲文化形态与现代西方文化模式互动关系的关注。在一个60平米的空间里，艺术家建造起了一个封闭的玻璃粮仓，内部填满了大米，再挂上一幅油画。在这里，亚洲的大米被转化成信息丰富的载体，与西方的艺术形式以一种充满智慧的方式共生。在“杰出的发现”单元项目里，年轻艺术家蒋志以一组装置作品亮相。工业化感觉极强的尺寸巨大的黑色金属玻璃柜与被挤压在内部的纤弱柔软的以硅胶制作的半透明人皮造型形成强烈的视觉反差，冰冷的外部结构与内里的生命的有机质感突现了艺术家对于生命和死亡的几乎是诗意化的反思。
2007 SH Contemporary Art Exhibition will be held in the prestigious Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 5th September to 9th September. It’s an international art festival with high quality and fame, co-organized by Shanghai International Cultural Communication Association, BF China Fairs and Bologna Exhibition Group.
Also, the fair has invited the former art director of Basel Art Fair Lorenzo A. Rudolf and important international gallerist, art dealer & collector Pierre Huber as art director of the fair.
The fair will invite 120 international galleries to attend the event. Besides the formal program, the fair will also establish two curatorial programs – “Best Artist” section and “Best Discovery” Section, which will promote 15 representative Asian contemporary artists and 20 newly emerged young artists from the region respectively.
As one of the top galleries in China, Tang Contemporary Art will bring five artists to participate the fair. Among them, Lin Yilin, Yan Lei And Zheng Guogu have been participated in this year’s Kassel Documenta, each of them will have an independent booth to show their newest art works. Yan Lei will show his new paintings composed by a big one of 3 meters long 2meters high and 9 other smaller paintings, which consist his new “Landing – Shanghai Series”: the weird human body language and blurry landscape have together set up an intriguing visual field; Zheng Guogu’s project is about space and society: through building a small factory workshop within exhibition space, and placing two fiberglass figurative sculptures alongside two real workers, the artist wants to represent the alternative vision towards the reality of China as being regarded as “World Factory ” and its covered socio-economic respect. Another Kassel participating artist Lin Yilin has long been practicing experimental art. He will show his new video work composed of seven channel video records, which is an outcome of cooperation between the artist and a foreign Institute of Art, to explore the possibility of new video languge. In the curatorial program“Best of Artist” section, Tang Contemporary Art will also represent the most influential Thai Contemporary Artist Rirkrit Tirawanija , his work is to construct a glass wall semi-closured to be filled up with top quality rice grains and with an oil painting hanging inside. The idea is to play joyfully with the notion of the hybridism of contemporary Asian culture with western ideology and consumerism. For “Best of Discovery” section, young artist Jiang Zhi will represent a big installation work composed by 4 gigantic metal boxes and 6 smaller stands, in which there are some semi-transparent skins mimicking human organs made of silica gel. The fierce contrast between harsh cold metal and soft, grotesque fragile-look skins will impose a great visual impact upon the audiences, indicate the artist’s almost poetic reflection upon the issues of life and death.
