The Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York(ACAF NY)
Be Held November 7-10 2008 at Pier 92

One of the most important exhibitions of contemporary Asian art, the 2nd annual Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York (ACAF NY), will be held from November 7-10, 2008, at Pier 92, 52nd Street and 12th Avenue, in New York City. More than 60 international galleries and non-profit organizations will show a wide range of contemporary work by artists from countries including China, Japan, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. Much of the work, including paintings, sculpture, photography, works on paper, video and installations, will be on view for the first time in the U.S

The Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York is the only international art fair in New York dedicated exclusively to Asian contemporary art. Last year's inaugural fair was hailed as a major success, providing collectors with an unusual opportunity to gain an overview of Asian art and see work by emerging artists, as well as internationally-recognized names such as Zhang Xiaogang, Nam June Paik, Yue Minjun and Yayoi Kusama. An opening night preview will be held on the evening of November 6.

After the strong critical success of last year's fair, contemporary art collectors are marking November in their calendars, noted Cristal Kim, Executive Director, Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York. Demand for Asian contemporary art continues to soar with stunning growth in the field. As the first Asian contemporary art fair in New York, we are inspiring a vibrant dialogue about contemporary art from one corner of the world to the other while presenting some of the most important work on the market.

    Exhibitors

A wide range of leading galleries from 14 countries, as well as several art organizations and institutions, will exhibit at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York.

    Opening Night Preview

The opening night preview will be held on Thursday, November 6 from 5 to 9 pm. A fashion show by the award-winning designer Angel Chang and other events are planned. For ticket information please contact the ACAf NY office at 212/563-3360 or info@acafny.com

    Special Exhibitions, Programs and Events

ACAF NY has commissioned two special exhibitions from the Middle East and China. A number of panel discussions and lectures are also planned by leading curators, art historians, collectors, journalists, art dealers and artists on issues relating to Asian contemporary art. Participants will include: Christopher Phillips, Curator, International Center for Photography; Richard Vine, Managing Editor, Art in America; and France Pepper, Director of Art and Culture Programs, China Institute.
