《ARTiT》第1期于2003年10月在东京出版，一开始杂志就是英日双语。从它创办至今的六年时间里，它以特有的视觉设计和国际化的内容(它曾连续三期都做中国当代艺术特辑)成为日本新一代艺术杂志中最具代表性的杂志。主编小崎哲哉 (Ozaki Tetsuya)曾在法国求学，当年对新浪潮和左派文艺思潮情有独钟，想必也影响到他未来在杂志文化中植入他对全球知识分子文化的兴趣。
即将发生在它身上的一个重要变化：
从今年六月的第24期之后，《ARTiT》将暂时放弃“平面印刷媒体”，而全面改成“网上媒体”，你还将看到关于艺术家的访谈，特写以及专栏等杂志原有的内容，但总体来说，报道的深度更深，广度更广，速度更快。
New, revamped ART iT to move completely online!
Following publication of this issue, on June 19 the quarterly art magazine ART iT will temporarily suspend its print edition, and move completely online -- to a new up-to-the-minute website offering a realtime response to developments in the art scene, via even more in-depth news from the art world, information on exhibitions in Japan and elsewhere, and artist interviews,
plus several new features including blogs courtesy of artists and key industry figures, and reader reviews.
