Babu Art Co. Ltd is a professional art institution located in the North District of OCT Art Zone. It is committed to the connection and generalization of concept art and contemporary art. So it now consists of “Babu Gallery” and “Babu Space” as an inheritance of the above mentioned orientation. Babu Gallery is concerned with dissemination of contemporary art on shelf. Babu Space covers a wild range of contemporary fashionable arts like Street culture, design, installation and video, and it has been promoting the international art intercommunication.

红金FORTUNEÉ NOËL,1975年出生于法国,现生活和工作于中国北京(Lives and works in Beijing, China)。

 

以色列艺术家红金在中国创作的作品以“透明”为主要特点,作品以树脂玻璃和纸为介质,通过色块上的线条表达思想。红金从2006年起画老北京的胡同。时至今日,胡同仍是其作品的重要组成部分。她的新作以金、银两色为主色调。时代的发展不可逆转,旧日的北京已在历史中湮没。用一句话概括红金的作品:精彩-无悔。

 

The mutations experienced by the modern urban landscapes and the concept of transparency were central in Fortunée Noël’s earliest works produced in China. Noël’s representation of unaccomplished skyscrapers and their thousand reflections were a testimony of the increasing use of transparent materials in modern architecture - a true revolution in a city like Beijing where opacity means a lot.In her new works, gold and silver pigments are dominant. The old Beijing - even though submitted to an irrepressible evolution - appears more than ever like mummified in a precious sarcophagus, summing up Noël’s last show: splendid, with no regrets.

Frantic画廊由宫崎康寿先生创建于2007年,画廊建立之初名为“Frantic艺术工程”,位于紧邻东京银座的日本桥区,尽管当时与一众已有一定实力基础的日本画廊比邻,Frantic很快就明白:它与其有着相当不同的专业发展路线。Frantic倾向于能够紧握世界艺术史语境的艺术,而绝不支持任何与流行风尚与流行文化的相关联的shown art; 它更执迷于有独立视角和独立思想的艺术家们。2010年,“Frantic艺术工程”更名为Frantic画廊。显而易见,Frantic并不愿意支持那些表达当代“日本风格”或者“异国情调”的艺术,而是坚持推荐那些有着个人价值观念的艺术家们。目前,画廊有明确的展览项目策略并为Frantic艺术家们的国际认知度而不懈奋斗。

 

Frantic Gallery was founded by Yasunobu Miyazaki in 2007 and was originally named "art project frantic". The first "frantic" location was in Nihonbashi district of Tokyo close to Ginza area, but in spite of its proximity to conglomerate of established Japanese galleries Frantic has shortly understood that it has rather different professional path.It shows art that can be grasped in the context of world art history; in no way it supports any links of shown art with fashionable trends or popular culture; it attract artists with individual views and independent thinking. In 2010 "art project frantic" was renamed in "Frantic Gallery". It became evident that Frantic is not willing to support contemporary "japonism" or "exoticism" of presented artworks, but insist on personal values of its artists. At the moment the gallery has clear strategy for exhibition program and struggles for international recognition of Frantic Artists.

田附楠人Cousteau Tazuke ,1982年出生于日本大阪;现生活和工作于日本(Lives and works in Tsukinode, Japan)。

 

田附楠人雕刻透明亚克力板,将酸性颜料注入那些已成形的孔中,然后将它们的背面展示于人。 通过这种方式,艺术家颠覆了图片中对立的正反两面——积极的与消极的:旁观者立于画面的背面通过透明丙烯酸树脂将会看到五颜六色的物质。楠人通过他对结构和拓扑二维艺术的实验提出一种完全不同的表现传统艺术的方法。他模糊了雕刻与绘画之间的界限:雕塑艺术和绘画艺术之间的界限。


 
Cousteau Tazuke carves into clear acrylic panels, pours acid-colored paint in the resulting cavities and then exhibits these works backwards. In this way the artist subverts the opposition of the front and the rear -- the positive and negative -- of the picture: the onlooker faces the back of the painting seeing colorful substances through transparent acrylic resin. Tazuke proposes a radically different approach to traditional fine art through his experimentation regarding the structure and topology of two-dimensional art. He erases the borderline between carving and painting: the art of sculpture and that of painting.

Since it was founded in 1992 the Galerie Urs Meile has been internationally engaged in the presentation and dissemination of contemporary art in the media of painting, sculpture, photography, installation and performance. The gallery operates out of two locations: Lucerne (Switzerland) and Beijing (China). While the operating centre is based in Switzerland, the Beijing branch – set in the middle of the artist and gallery quarter Caochangdi – has established itself as an international meeting place for collectors, curators and aficionados of the arts. The complex designed by Ai Weiwei contains four spacious exhibition rooms within six buildings, and houses the artist-in-residence programme initiated by the gallery. The artistic programme contains established as well as up-and-coming young artists from China, Europe and the U.S.A. As one of the first galleries worldwide to do so, since its first contact in the middle of the 1990s, the Galerie Urs Meile has also been intensively involved in the Chinese art scene, whose protagonists now participate in the discourse on contemporary visual art at the highest international level. In recent years, the gallery has enduringly fostered the careers of some of the most influential Chinese artists working today, among them Ai Weiwei, Qiu Shihua, Wang Xingwei and Xie Nanxing. Within the framework of visits lasting several months, the artist-in-residence studio in Beijing offers Western artists the opportunity to work in China and forge contacts with the Chinese art scene. Within the context of this exchange programme internationally established as well as young artists present projects specifically developed for the gallery spaces in Beijing.

李钢 Li Gang,出生于中国大理;现生活和工作于中国北京(Lives and works in Beijing, China)。

 

在《展台》这组作品中,我所指的展台有多重含义:一个是展示和区分艺术作品与它物的机制,一个是艺术家与观众连接的平台。在这个平台上我用纸币擦拭四面,在不毁坏纸币的情况下,让纸币在平台上留下色痕,留下一种钱的痕迹,通过对平台的反复擦拭产生最终的渐变效果。从而借助作品来描述艺术与钱的一些微妙关系——有了钱的支持艺术得以顺利实现,有了钱的标示大众对艺术的价值观会无形的被钱所左右,有了钱的诱惑会使一些创作者失去了真实的自我,两者之间的关系既明显又模糊。这就像这件作品一样,你虽然看不到钱的出现,但是钱始终还是在上面留下了痕迹。

 

In the work series of “Pedestal”, the pedestals that I refer to here have many meanings: it is a mechanism that displays and distinguishes between works of art and objects; and it is a platform that connects the artist with the audience. I wiped the four sides of the platform with banknotes. Without damaging the notes I left traces of colour on the surface of the platform, a trace of money. After repeatedly wiping the platform with the notes a gradated effect was produced. The work thereby helps to depict the subtle relationship between art and money — with financial support art can be made; with financial indications popular artistic values are swayed intangibly by money; the enticement of money makes some artists lose their true selves. The relation between the two is both obvious and vague. This is just like this work: although you cannot see the money, it always leaves a trace.

Flash Memory系列是“半透明”作品的延续。旨在不同范畴中我们所能承载的时间和记忆。该系列沿袭了传统雕塑语言,却与以往雕塑不同的是当我们习惯性地寻找雕塑的最佳视角时,他们的作品却在各个角度发挥着空间上的最大张力。

 

"Flash Memory" series is the extension version of "translucent" series, to depict the time and memory that we could hold in different fields. Based on the form of traditional sculpture though, the art works are able to deliver tension force on each angle of the space, when we chronically try to find the best sight of it.

Changha Hwang,1969年出生于韩国;现生活和工作于美国纽约(Lives and works in New York, USA).

 

While the climate of contemporary art today lie on shape, form and narrative, artist Hwang Chang-ha has persistently engrossed himself in creating works that incline towards abstraction. Hwang has been creating works that stress the formalistic qualities such as line, shape and experimental color rather than a realistic representation. The vocabulary of Hwang’s work stem from Islamic tile pattern, traditional Jewish paper cuts, Venetian lace and more are composed in uniform structures with lines and shapes to construct a unique image. Hwang states,“I am not interested in making paintings that have traditional sense of clear divisions of figure and ground. I want to make a painting monotopical rather than discursive. I am going for the objecthood of the colors in painting. "Hwang’s works demonstrate diverse colors that create abstract shapes constructing a three-dimensional space which is complex yet in order on top of a flat surfaced canvas.

Beijing Art Now Gallery is a professional international art institute for Chinese contemporary art, which was founded in 2004 in Beijing. The Gallery located in Cao Chang Di Art district in Beijing with two floors exhibition areas of 800 square meters in total. It has individual video room. It creates the perfect exhibition space for experimental and international art exhibition, and actively promotes new artists and excellent works. One of the main initial mission of Beijing Art Now Gallery is to “support Chinese contemporary art in China”, and to “archive Chinese contemporary art in the world art history”. Following the Gallery opening exhibition of “Post 911–Yang Shaobin’s Solo Exhibition” in 2004, the gallery has continually held many domestic and internationally influential solo and group exhibitions. 杨柳 Li Chaoxiong,1982年出生于中国四川;现生活和工作于中国北京(Lives and works in Beijing, China)。

 

渐渐抛却了对我来说略显浮夸的笔墨技法,更希望可以一点一点老老实实勾勒所看到的,所谓眼见为"实",若你把"实"看作某种意义上的"在",而不仅仅是物体在光线反射中形成的实体,那便是含着泛神论的终极观念.不过但凡有绘画经验的人会明白这几乎是一种幻想,再现并不低级,反而是绘画绝对无法做到的工作,几乎到最后,画成的画成为了头脑中想象的形象,这便是所见到所得的视觉展现。比如,如果物体不反射光线,一只鸟怎么看到眼前的事物呢?那么就让鸟的眼睛发出光线好了。我觉得这比较有趣,就这样。

Since 2000 Tang Contemporary Art has been introducing Chinese contemporary art to Chinese and international audiences.  Acting as one of the most progressive and academically driven exhibition spaces in China, Tang Contemporary Art showcases some of the most important key figures in Chinese art such as Wang Du, Yang Jiechang, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, Yan Lei, Lin Yilin, Liu Xiaodong, as well as collaborations with international artists such as Rirkrit Tiravanija and Navin Rawanchaikul. The Center strives to initiate dialogue among artists and institutions working  locally and internationally.

Preeyachanok Ketsuwan,1985年出生于泰国;现生活和工作于泰国曼谷(Lives and works in Bangkok Thailand)

 

一段时间以来性被定义为男女之间生物性的差别,并以性别的方式来进行文化的定义并限制这些差异。女性/男性,男性/女性,女人/男人,男孩/女孩-性和性别方面的不一致同样渗透到我们的思考和谈论自己和对方的方式上。在大多数情况下,我们发现自己很容易相信那些被告诉的东西,这让我想知道这是不是不真实的?一个可能的猜测是:是否作为一个女人必然意味着“女人味”。一个可能的疑问是,为什么年轻女性常常被称为女孩,而男人却很少被称为男孩。是否一个以非老套的女性方式生活的女人就可以表明是一个坏女人?

 

有一个民间故事这样说:一个女人无法证明她深爱她的男人,因为她的头发没有足够的长度穿过塔的底座,而另一个传说则是女人将会如何被惩罚,如果她结婚之前爱着某个人,会导致很多问题。那究竟是谁给女人定了这些规矩?女人又被谁所控制呢?

 

“被占领/侵犯”的主题,“作为女人”在社会结构中的角色我们可能从未认真研究过其内在的原因。也许唯一的原因只是“作为女人”。

 

For some time sex has been defined as the biological difference between men and women, and gender as the manner in which culture defines and constrains these differences. Feminine/masculine, male/female, women/men, boy/girl - terms of sexual and gender division like these permeate the way we think and talk about ourselves and each other. On most occasions we found ourselves easily believe in something just the way we were told, that makes me wonder whether this ease is illusory? One may speculate whether being a woman necessarily implies being "feminine". One may question why young women are often referred to as girls, while men are seldom referred to as boys. Is living in a non-stereotypically feminine manner a reliable indication that one is a bad woman?

 

There is a folk story of a lady who cannot proof her profound love to her man because her hair was not long enough to stretch through the pagoda’s base, and another folklore about how a women being punished if she love someone before getting married thus led to many queries. Who assign rules to women? To whom women being Possessed?

 

“Possessed/Poach” examines the inquiries in “being woman” under the social-constructed role we might never seriously investigate the underling reasons. Or maybe the only reason is being woman.

Hemuse Gallery, established in 2011, is a professional gallery which aims to promote the finest contemporary Chinese Art. As a young art institution,the gallery is an open space which not only provides artists a platform to show their high quality works, but also cares about the development of contemporary art and young artists’ growing, the gallery is trying its best to build a platform for free exchange and discussion on contemporary art.

 

Hemuse Gallery, located in Beijing International Art Plaza, Baiziwan, adjacent to Today Art Museum. The exhibition hall is divided into two floors, which covers an area of about 200 square meters.

这是一个由5个艺术家发起的合作项目。该项目将对一个6x6米的展位进行一定的空间改造,并结合为此项目制作的几件视觉作品。让观众体会到一种观看艺术作品的“莫名状态”。

 

作品包括:某个雕塑,灯箱菲林片;某个雕塑,布面油画;某个人物,灯箱装置;一个活体装置(一位被打扮成福尔摩斯模样的人,定期打开他的礼服,在礼服的里面悬挂着一些奇特艺术作品)。

 

Sherlock Holmes's Secret is a cooperative project innovated by 5 artists. They will revision the booth which is only 6m*6m, meanwhile, they will create several visualized works, which would bring the audience sense the art works without any rhyme.

 

Included Works: one sculpture, lightbox with film; one sculpture, oil on canvas; some one, lightbox installation; one man-installation (One man would dress up like Holmes, he would unclasp and show the audience the wired art works inside.)

创作对我来说是一个观念的建立以及表达的过程。《布达佩思》系列的创作,从线稿到文案,从编辑到完成绘本,从架上绘画到雕塑,还有将要进行的动画和音乐,我希望我的作品能呈现一种高度的完整性和真实性。

 

For me, creation is a process of concept establishment and way of expression. My recent creative work of Buda Pest series is an example. From the line drawing to copywriting, from editing to the completion of a whole picture book, from easel painting to sculpture, as well as the upcoming animation and music production, with all these diverse expressions, my works can be demonstrated in highly integrity and authenticity.

Is our fully armed modern civilization getting increasingly impregnable or

vulnerable? Will the big waves of consumption safely send our boat of freedom and democracy to the shore? Has the modern civilization improved the human race or alienated them? Do the benefits of inventions born of man's overconfidence outweigh its risks? Or vice versa?

As a blending of different pictorial styles, Na Wei's works exquisitely deliver to the viewers the planar aesthetics in the information age. Also, the blending leads to a lot of conflicts between the pictorial language and logic in the traditional sense, which, however, leads to new significance and value by forming a harmonious unity in the perspective of aesthetics

艺术家所想表达的不是 “人” 的表情,而是一种“非人”的存在状态;种种直抵人心的“拟人”表现甚至让人感觉残酷难忍。这种华丽与残疾并存的现实似乎表明这就是当前人类身处的世界,是超脱个人的集体意识,也是我们面临的时代特质。

 

The artist is not trying to express the expressions of “human beings,” but the nonhuman states of being. This kind of “personification” is so astonishing, even cruel, touching people’s heart deeply. This reality with magnificent and deformity coexist seems is the world which human beings live, the collective consciousness surpassing every individual consciousness, and the predominant zeitgeist we are facing now.

 

郑真蓉 Jinyong Jeong,1972年出生于韩国全州;现生活和工作于中国、韩国、北京、首尔(Lives and works in Beijing, Seoul China, South Korea)。

 

郑真蓉将丙烯颜料、水粉、玻璃珠等材料融合于自己的作品中,创作出一种独特的艺术语言表达。玻璃珠膜在照明效果下,演绎出多层次的视觉效果,继而幻化成一种奇特的距离感强烈地吸引观者,仿佛体验了一场时空旅行。

 

Jeong Jinyong conducts many experiments to perfectly combine the materials such as acrylic, gouache and glass bead in his works. He creates the unique expression methodology with art language. The glass bead filmed on the surface of the works generates multi-level visual effect under lighting. The magic light-reflection effect create a fascinating feeling of distance and guides the viewer to experienced a time travel.
