Art Sharing Event: Boundless Inspiration - International Artists Reflect on Everyday Life and Abstract Art

January 15th, Thursday, 3:00pm-4:30pm

Want to experience a creative spark? Join our in-person art sharing event! Here, passionate artists and enthusiasts come together to exchange ideas, share their work, and explore the endless charm of art.

After World War II, many artists migrated from Europe to the United States, and the center of the art world gradually shifted from Paris to New York. During this period, artists drew nourishment from the distinct social environments of Europe and America, developing a unique artistic identity—Abstract Expressionism—a revolutionary movement centered on personal freedom of expression, spiritual exploration, and formal innovation. This movement completely liberated line, color, and gesture, transforming them from mere tools for depicting external objects into direct carriers of inner emotion, the subconscious, and even universal energy.

When people think of abstract art, many imagine it hanging on museum walls, appearing aloof and distant from everyday life. In reality, artists’ creative inspiration often comes from life itself, while also transcending it.

Currently, the exhibition "The Mystery of Abstraction" is on view at the Beijing American Center. This group show brings together six contemporary artists from China and abroad, presenting a dialogue between the beauty of everyday life and abstract art through oil painting, works on paper, installations, and live improvisation.

For this event, we have invited several of the participating artists to share, from their unique perspectives, how they draw inspiration for abstract art from daily life within both Chinese and American cultural contexts, and how abstract art serves as a language that transcends national boundaries.

We invite you to step into the Beijing American Center to explore the mysteries of abstract art and to co-create the beauty of the present moment—where the fleeting becomes eternal.

The event will be conducted in Chinese.
